tenugui is a Ukiyo-e from the collection of the Great One Hundred Famous Views of Edo by Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858). It is a view of the fireworks festival in Ryogoku, Tokyo. Many Japanese love Hanabi(fireworks in japanese) celebrate the summer and coming autumn. Hiroshige left us the last great artwork "Ukiyo-e" and also was a poet; "I leave my brush in the East. And set forth on my journey. I shall see the famous places in the Western land."

"Yuami 湯浴み" means a bath time in Japanese. This tenugui uses a part of Ukiyoe "Twelve Hours in the Pleasure Quarters" by Utamaro Kitagawa (1753-1806). Utamaro is one of the greatest artists of Ukiyoe, especially portraits for the women. Two beauties are taking a bath with their tenugui in the afternoon... Tenugui has loved many decades by Japanese people, and still now!
